Crispy Okra – Baked

I love okra in all it forms but this is my favorite preparation. Crispy, nutty and lightly spicy, it’s a perfect side dish. You can flavor it in many different ways – Southwestern spice blend, any Indian spice blend, Asian spice blend and so on. In this recipe I used Tava Fry masala for seasoning, but you can keep it to just salt and pepper.

  • Clean okra with a wet towel an let them air dry for some time.
  • Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees.
  • Cut okra into thin long slices, spreading them evenly on a baking sheet in a single layer.
  • Drizzle vegetable or canola oil and mix with hand to coat well.
  • Bake in the oven for about 8 minutes.
  • Take the pan out and sprinkle salt, pepper & spice blend of your choice.
  • Gently toss to coat evenly with the spices.
  • Bake for some more time, until slices start to crisp up and turn light brown.
  • Serve hot immediately. If serving later, just toast them up in a pan or in a toaster oven for a couple of minutes.

Cooking Time: 30 minutes
